Economic Development Director
David Putnam, CEcD, is the Town’s Economic Development Director. As a Certified Economic Developer, David works closely with public and private partners to support existing businesses, attract innovative companies, and advance Chapel Hill’s long-term economic vitality.
Sarah Potter, MPA
Business Vitality Manager
Sarah Potter, MPA, is the Town’s Business Vitality Manager and our go-to resource for all things small business and downtown vibrancy. She serves as a liaison and advocate between the Town and the business community, helping connect businesses with the resources and support they need. From time to time, you may even see Sarah stop by to say hello, check in, and ensure you have the support you need to succeed.

Marketing & Communications Coordinator
Sarah Grace Acker, MA, is the Marketing & Communications Coordinator for Chapel Hill’s Economic Development team. She supports Sarah and David’s work through creative campaigns that uplift local businesses and highlight the Town’s innovation and quality of life.
